While the roots of the Orange Movement extend globally, with over 249,000 signatories supporting the Orange Pledge, its impact in Bangladesh is particularly profound. As a nation on the front lines of climate change, Bangladesh is emerging as a rallying point for global environmental justice.

In February 2024, IIX hosted a roundtable discussion with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bangladesh, focusing on the rise of Orange Bonds within the nation’s financial sector. This discussion highlighted the potential for innovative financial instruments to drive economic development and social impact, marking a step toward inclusive and sustainable growth.

In 2023 alone, iFarmer significantly impacted the lives of over 8,000 farmers, with 41% gaining access to financial services for the first time. Additionally, nearly 12,000 more farmers benefited from hands-on training in crop cultivation and cattle rearing.
